We're looking for a Senior Data & Cloud Engineer who can build and scale a cloud native data and AI platform. This role combines cloud engineering, data engineering, and DevOps. 

You'll design infrastructure that supports real time analytics, industrial data processing, and AI/ML workloads across both cloud (AWS) and on prem environments.

The company is an AI-native cybersecurity startup protecting the critical infrastructure that keeps the world running - Energy. Manufacturing. Utilities. Data centers. 

The founder knows the industry inside out - has already built and sold a company in this space.



Your responsibilities will include:

Cloud & On-premise Infrastructure

• Build and operate AWS and on prem infrastructure
• Use Terraform/CloudFormation for IaC
• Manage core AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, EKS, RDS)
• Work with AI/ML teams to optimize performance, cost, and reliability
• Both company infrastructure and deployment at customer location are your focus

DevOps / Platform Engineering

• Build CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab, Jenkins)
• Automate deployments, scaling, and monitoring (Kubernetes)
• Ensure high availability and system reliability
• Implement observability (logging, metrics, tracing)

Data Engineering

• Build streaming and batch pipelines
• Work with industrial data sources (SCADA, historians, telemetry)
• Support real time analytics and ML pipelines
• Handle Kafka, ETL, data lakes/warehouses

Security

• Implement secure cloud and on-prem architectures
• Manage IAM, secrets, encryption, network security
• Support ISO 27001 / SOC2
• Embed DevSecOps practices

Collaboration

• Work with software, AI/ML, security, and OT/ICS engineers
• Contribute to architecture decisions
• Mentor junior engineers

Job requirements:

• Minimum of 5+ years of proven experience in a similar role
• Strong engineering mindset (build, automate, scale)
• Comfortable in fast-moving startup environment
• Ability to translate complex systems into scalable architecture and also on-premise
• Hands-on, pragmatic, and outcome-driven

Must have skills:

• Strong cloud experience (AWS)
• Infrastructure-as-Code; Terraform or CloudFormation
• CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab, Jenkins)
• Containerization; Docker + Kubernetes
• Programming; Python or Go
• Building scalable data platforms; Kafka / streaming data
• Experience with both cloud + on‑prem infrastructure
• Strong DevOps mindset (automation, reliability, observability)
